Cruise Ship Packing Hack for Scuba Divers; Double-Duty Fast-Dry Shirts
Trying to reduce the amount of clothing you bring on a cruise is difficult, but necessary. I have finally discovered the perfect solution. Bring sleeveless, lightweight shirts that you can wear during the day for casual. Wash them in the sink with the shampoo body soap combination provided. They dry quickly and can be paired with a sweater or jacket for dressy wear in the evening. I cut my shirt wardrobe in half.

Cartagena Requires Cool Clothing
Many of the Caribbean Islands are fairly warm all year long. You might want to bring shirts that are stylish, have a pattern that camouflages sweat, and can coordinate with several colors of pants, skirts, and jackets.
This shirt is very light and flowy. It was perfect because Cartagena in March was HOT. Don’t forget your fish- and people-safe sunscreen; Stream2Sea is the only one allowed in some areas due to bans on chemical sunscreen. Take a lightweight long-sleeve shirt for modesty and additional sun protection.
Drying Fast on the Balcony
A lightweight polyester blend shirt will not only dry fast; but also will not need ironing.
This shirt took under 30 minutes to dry in the Central American sun.
Previously I brought cotton t-shirts for dive days. They end up with embarassing wet marks in funny spots, don’t dry out, end up smelling, and look wrinkled after hand washing. No more! Eliminated!

A Couple Shirts, A Couple Jackets
What you see is what I brought for 14 nights of cruising. I think I have it down to the essentials; workout gear, casual day wear, dressy casual evening wear, and dive trip wear.
If you want a no-fail packing list – let me know! I have one for 3, 7, 8, 9, 11, 14 nights.
Dressy Night On Board
Bill wanted us to head to the helipad for some photos on dressy casual night.
We had fun taking some shots – then I returned to the cabin to restore my hairdo.
Bringing fewer clothes makes embarkation easier, boarding faster, debarkation less stressful, and is easier on your back. Pack light. It makes traveling more fun.
