Seymour Johnson Air Force Base: Your Guide to MWR Camping Goldsboro, NC
This is a quiet destination, with 16 RV spots, and you must reserve in advance. I love that there are a couple of spots that are reserved to be on-the-moment spots as well for last-minute drop-ins.
There are lots of trees, and the spots are not too close together. The campsites are not in a regular pattern, but rather sort of fit in here and there around the trees.
There is one little bath house that looks like a cabin. It has a ladies and a men’s bathroom.
There is even a space heater in the bathroom, and everything was very clean. The one odd thing was the paper towel dispenser that juts over the sink. The bathroom space is small, but well-utilized.
A third room at one end of the bath house holds a laundry room. I forgot to check the prices.
They’re also a room with the Wi-Fi router and a book exchange and a nice display of brochures for the area.
We had a full hook-up, water, and electric, and sewer. Fees are $25-$26 a night. It is absolutely quiet at this camp and nice and dark. There are warnings in the bathroom about not harming the good snakes.
All spots look like pull-through, and there is a separate enormous field for tent camping, and also a stand-alone pump-out station.

Hours are 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
For exercise, there is a fantastic road that goes past the campground. It looks like it’s hardly ever used. It goes through forest and meadows that smell lovely. I saw at least three deer, and heard several more.
I think the road I walked on is not used all that much because when I got to one part, there is a wash out and a foot bridge.
The walk I took here was out in the wild, really out in the wild. It was a long road with a very tall fence, bordering it. I saw, dear on either side of the fence, I kept thinking I was going to see a bear and I hoped it would be on the other side of the fence. But it’s a very nice walk, nice pavement, so quiet, no buildings except for one very old interesting structure.
We did experience some yellow flies. They were very eager to bite us.
There is no camp store. Because it’s on base, you do have access to everything else such as commissary and fuel.
