Cruise Ship Tip: Ask Even if You Think It’s Impossible
When we first get to our cruise ship cabin, before we unpack, we always have a look around to see if everything is working. Sometimes if there’s something significant, like the air conditioning or shower not working; it might warrant a cabin upgrade and a move. For the more minor but irritating – ask your cabin steward or guest services. You will be surprised; this last cruise; we had them rebuild our cabin!
Impossible Access
When we got into our cabin on Serenade of the Seas this month, we immediately noticed that the television was hung overlapping the two doors that lead to the safe.
We use the safe a lot – daily – and to have to swing the television out of the way every time was going to be inconvenient.
It needed to be lowered a couple of inches. We really did not think they would fix it – but they did! Shew! Life gets easier!

Immediate Rectification
As soon as we got into the room and noticed this; I called guest services.
Apparently, not many people were in their cabins with requests yet – another good reason to assess and call quickly!
The maintenance man must have been waiting outside our cabin door for the call, because he was there immediately.
Ready Access
We travel with either a watch roll and this small Wolf jewelry case that folds out, or two watch rolls, two passports, and two wallets. I use the Cosmos Black Neoprene Roll Bag for watches, and put jewelry in the bottom.
We keep these items in the safe the entire cruise.

Dead Battery
A couple of months ago on Jewel of the Seas, we had a lot of trouble with the safe batteries.
Twice we had to wait, have it serviced, and sign a log that the service was complete. Be sure your safe is working before you need it in a hurry to access passports or medications!
