If you have broken pots, they can be repaired! Why on Earth I decided to repair a broken terra cotta plant pot is beyond me. I suppose it was a part of a set of three, so had sentimental value. Possibly also was the prospect of purchasing another for $50. Or, maybe, I saw the increased value in something repaired versus just buying new. In any event, I decided to make the repair. You can do this very easily, with very few supplies or tools!

1. Drill Holes

Drill holes with a masonry bit – I chose the “5 Piece Masonry Drill Bit Set (CARBIDE STEEL STRENGTH) Chrome Plated – Durable Storage Case -Drills Through Concrete, Tile, Brick, Plastic, Wood, Metal, More!” for under $10 and they worked great.

They come in a container that you can store the bits in, and they make drilling a 30-second or less endeavor per hole.

2. Make Stitches

Bend leftover copper wire into staple-like shapes, and thread them through the drill holes. Twist them on the inside.

3. Twist

I used a wire cutter, a pliers, and a drill to make the holes.

4. Done.

Next question is it worth it to spend a whole day resurrecting a $50 pot? Well…. if you are earning minimum wage… 10 hours of work to pay for a pot…

It is SO hot outside – make sure you set up a fan, and drink plenty of water!

Like a surgeon; I’m not sure if those stitches are scary or comforting!

I rather like the looks of my finished pot.

Please do wear eye protection, hearing protection, and remember that terra cotta shards are sharp – sweep regularly.
