Sample Safety Brief for Passengers on a Sailboat Departing the Dock
Tina and Sophia in this week’s Women on the Water program at St. Augustine Sailing did a fabulous job of coming up with a memorable mnemonic for covering all the safety, brief items. It is “F’in Blaster,” the safety blast! I suggest a quick demonstration of each of these required and recommended safety items before leaving the dock with passengers unfamiliar with the vessel.
F is for flares
B for bladder, holding tank and toilet
L is for life jacket/PFD’s
A is for airhorn sound producing device
S is for stereo – VHF radio
T is for Type IV Throwable
E is for extinguishers of fire
R is for running lights
