The Forest Master Ultimate Sawhorse

Bill wanted a sawhorse that could hold wood and allow us to advance a section easily for cutting wood for our woodstove.

He researched quite a lot of devices, and found this Forest Master Ultimate Sawhorse from Olympia Tools.

It features a foldable body and an adjustable chain to fit logs up to 16″ inches across.

And this woodcutting sawhorse works. It really, really works!

Tricky Assembly

Assembly of the Ultimate Sawhorse was a bit difficult. We learned that the jaws that grip the logs have an inside and an outside bar, and these must match up to the shorter and longer ferrules on the stand.

Once we had that sorted, the rest was easy and the sawhorse folds with the removal of two cotter pins.

Figuring the Ferrules

At the top of the woodcutting sawhorse, there are two small pipes, ferrules, to hold the bolts to hold the gripper jaws to the sawhorse.

You can see the inner gripper matches up to the shorter ferrule, and the outer gripper is further from the body of the sawhorse, so it matches up to the longer ferrule.

There. We just saved you two hours of “Googling” and searching for YouTube videos to explain this. For mine, go to ASSEMBLING OLYMPIA TOOLS’ FOREST MASTER ULTIMATE SAWHORSE // SUNJOE LOG SPLITTER // Deep Water Happy.

The weight of the Forest Master woodcutting sawhorse is almost 34 pounds. Dimensions are 46.46 x 7.87 x 3.35 inches.

Wood is held at a natural height for using a chainsaw without bending over and straining your back.

There’s no clamp; just a chain that adjusts pretty easily to any reasonable diameter of log.

Truly Is the Ultimate Sawhorse

Formerly, we used one of those benches from a redwood picnic set to hold logs. We placed it upside-down on the ground, and let the “X” of the feet hold our logs. It was not an ideal solution.

This Ultimate Sawhorse is a great device! We can process firewood about three times as quickly with this since there’s only one set for each length of log.

Once a log is captured between the jaws and chain, you simply slice it into whatever lengths you need. The last piece falls out, and you start with a new length.
