Quite by accident, I realized you can find some of your daily-use items at a great discount!
Clif Bars
We have set up Clif Bars on an Amazon subscription, because Bill relies on them for a midmorning and midafternoon snack. Also, we take them on trips for a fast burst of energy.
I usually pay $16.34 plus tax for an 18-count box $17.48 or .97 each. Or, flavors that come only in a 12-count box set me back $11.28 or $12.06 with tax ($1.05 each) A few flavors are only available in a 6-pack for $5.78 that’s $6.18 with tax ($1.03 each).
Those prices are Walmart. I shop there because I can order online, and pick up without coming into contact with anyone. They load everything into the back of my truck.
Clif Bars are even more expensive from Amazon.
I picked these 36 Clif Bars for $20 for 36 (.56 each) on eBay. That’s almost half price!
Additionally, the selection included a carrot cake variety – a favorite of Bill’s that he hasn’t found in quite some time.
Now that I know Clif Bars are on eBay; I see plenty of lots of 60-72 bars for $30. That’s a solid .50 cents or less each. Wowza. The best deal I saw was 105 bars for $35. That’s .33 cents a bar.

Native Natural Deodorant Aluminum & Paraben Free 3 Pack Variety sets me back $11.97 plus tax – or $12.80 each. I picked up three for $15. That’s 61% discount, so I got them at almost three for the price of one. Or, over 60% off.
I can order these from Amazon for three for $30. This price still is 33% less expensive.
The Native Natural Deodorant is vegan, gluten free, cruelty-free, aluminum free, paraben free, phthalates and talc free, and contains probiotics and naturally-derived ingredients.
Gold Bond Ultimate Softening Foot Cream
I ordered this Gold Bond Softening Foot Cream for Bill only as a stocking stuffer because it would fit. At that point; I had no idea how wonderful this lotion would be. It smells great, and makes your feet feel like velvet.
However, Gold Bond is pricey. It’s $5.98 from Amazon. It’s $13.40 from Walmart, with tax – $14.33.
From eBay, I picked up SIX tubes for $20. I paid $3.33 each. That’s at least 75% off.
Gold Bond Softening Foot Cream contains not only shea butter, but also a silk peptide matrix. I have no idea what that is, but it smells great and feels even better.
Save Far More Than Clipping Coupons
Years ago, clipping coupons was the thing. Then stores that sold dented cans… Once Covid hit, having groceries delivered or picking them up became more common. I think coupons went by the wayside at that point.
We were just so happy to get our hands on what we needed without jeopardizing our health that we didn’t mind.
However, I’m finding that a bit of research can save you far more money than coupons ever could.
In fact, I’m going to start looking up nearly every personal hygiene item we consume. I can’t ignore 75% and greater savings!
Proven Again
A quick search – $10 for two, $16 for three – or six for $19. I’m not even going to bother doing the math! It’s less – far less.
Watch the Expiry Dates
All Bill and I can figure is that some entrepreneurial people scour the clearance shelves at stores and resell on eBay for a small profit.
Another option is people are dumpster diving, then selling online.
Well, their work pays off if they are making a bit of money and we’re saving a bit of money – then we all win.
I see some items are shown with expiration dates, like the toothpaste above. Usually I stock up when I find a good sale anyway, so I’m not too worried about that. But, I will pay attention.
