Flower Disk

On a whim, I treated myself to a pottery flower disk from a local holiday house featuring art and crafts from local artists. I had no idea how it would change flower arranging for me!

My husband brings me fresh flowers about a couple times a month. I love trimming, arranging, photographing, and gazing at the flowers…

Structure

The simple disk gives the individual stems some structure. No more criss-crossing tape to hold stems upright, or drooping buds.

Trimming

Once all the flowers are inserted into the disk, trimming is so much easier.

Simply pull the entire disk and flowers out as one unit, trim, and reinsert. No need to re-design or re-arrange!

Longevity

Because it’s so easy to remove all the flowers “in situ,” it’s also easier to change out the water.

That means the flowers last longer because they get fresh water more often.

Simple Pleasures

This year, I’m all about slowing down and appreciating the “small things.” Also, I’m upgrading items I touch regularly like my razor, the tea kettle, anything I use often to more attractive, more reusable, more ecoconscious choices.

Etsy has so many options – here are ceramic flower frogs in various sizes and colors, and more here.

You can find plenty of wire alternatives here on Amazon.

I found a similar product, Easy Arranger EA3PK Tri-Pack, a wire grid that can be bent to fit any container.

Also, here’s a version, MASON 4/ Pack Frog Lid Inserts, that fits Mason jars. There are several versions online. It’s interesting that they call them “frogs,” as I thought that name was only for those weighted lead discs with dozens of points for impaling flower stems in the bottom of a container to secure them.
