Fall Riding Inspo // Purposeful Organization and Vanderkitten // Supernatural Purple to the Rescue!
Fall weather’s charms and occasional inclement weather could possibly put one off their exercise routine. But, it’s less likely when you have a great system for inspiring yourself, a couple accountability tricks, and some supernatural exercise gear!

Accountability Trick
So, here’s a sneaky trick – put your exercise gear right where you can see it. Every. Darn. Day. Remember that your running / cycling / skating / workout gear is your friend, and is waiting for you to take it out to play.
My shoes wait right by the door – like a loyal pup. I like to imagine them just pining away, waiting for us to go for a run.
Right by the door, the last drawer is full of everything I need for a great run or cycling adventure.

Purposeful Placement
On the other side of the door next to rain jackets and outerwear waits my cycling gear! Shoes with RoadID attached, helmet, Handup gloves, and glasses. Who could pass up this invitation? RoadID is a registered ID for safety.
They are waiting right by the door, a frequent reminder to head outside.

Attractive Attracts Action!
Here’s a sneak peek into the last drawer before the door – the “let’s get moving” drawer! From left, adorable socks from Vanderkitten with Ophelia – she faces to the rear, watching my back while I cycle.
Due to all-too-frequent hair washings, I favor the really chunky hair elastics. They hold my hair firmly without breaking strands.
Chamois Butter – Her‘ – a necessity for cycling. Best part? It smells divine due to the lavender. Sharing that cubicle is the Halo cycling sweat band – I have the adjustable tie version.
Another great chamois cream for ladies is the Petal Power Joy Ride Women’s Natural Anti-Chafe Cream for Cycling. Their product contains no parabens, no petroleum products, and is completely vegan. Plus Petal Power has a female founder, former pro racer Jill Hamilton!
In the third section from the left, my Wahoo Tickr heart rate monitor and my Garmin HRM-Dual heart rate monitor. The Wahoo communicated with my former cycling gps, the Garmin with my replacement. Gold Bond medicated powder is handy for preventing chafing. Looks so old-fashioned, but there’s nothing like it!
In front of that is hopefully my last container of commercially-produced deodorant! I’m planning to start making my own with fewer chemicals. I’ve always pulled labels off containers when I can; I really dislike “being advertised to” in my personal time!
That green thing – oh my goodness – a lifesaver! Bill gave me this FlipBelt for running. I like to listen to music while I run, and use RunKeeper to keep track of my times. This securely holds my cell phone and a key while I run. And it has a reflective strip, perfect for my early-morning runs.
Then there’s an ankle blinky light, probably intended for an arm, but I prefer it around the ankle. Also, I carry a Nathan Zephyr Fire hand-held angled flashlight with a rear-facing red blinking light. It took awhile to find one that could shine ahead of my feet and be carried easily while running. It’s rechargeable, and lasts about six months of three-a-week half hour runs.
Rounding out the drawer is another small flashlight, tape measure, Nuun hydration tablets, and a pocket knife.

Some Supernatural ‘Spiration
Oh, wow! Right away, I have to tell you this Vanderkitten Kit comes in pink and purple – and I was prepared to despise the purple. I own exactly one purple shirt, that’s how little I fancy purple. But, it’s divine! I cannot believe it, but, in purple, this is just beautiful.
However, I will say, it comes in crazy, beautiful, hot pink, too! And if the purple exceeded my wildest hopes… the pink will be spectacular!
Or, there’s a great set in all black with cat paws in a Cosmic Kitten print like all the stars in the universe. Discount link below!
If you’re drooling over those beautiful gloves to the right, they are from Handup gloves. They have three different weights, and plenty of graphic designs. Mine were a VK special, and the weight is perfect for chilly rides or even Summer early morning rides.
